Coffee is not just a drink – it’s a ritual, a culture, and a daily pleasure that connects people across the globe. Whether it’s a short espresso in Italy, Turkish coffee in the Balkans, or “coffee to go” in the United States, every country has its own story and tradition tied to coffee.


Italy 🇮🇹 – the home of espresso

Italy is synonymous with coffee. Espresso is the staple drink, enjoyed quickly while standing at the bar, while cappuccino is reserved only for the morning. Italians believe coffee should be short, strong, and aromatic. Brands like Lavazza and Illy have brought the Italian coffee spirit worldwide.




Turkey and the Balkans 🇹🇷 🇧🇦 🇷🇸 – coffee as tradition

Turkish coffee brewed in a džezva holds a special place in our region. In the Balkans, coffee is not just a beverage but a reason for conversation, friendship, and relaxation. People often say “Let’s go for coffee” even if they don’t plan to drink one – because coffee is a symbol of social connection.Famous regional brands include Om Café (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Franck (Croatia), and Grand Kafa (Serbia).

Brazil 🇧🇷 – the world’s largest producer

Brazil produces one-third of the world’s coffee. Their beans have a mild and balanced flavor and are used in many global brands. Brazil is also the leading exporter of arabica coffee.



Colombia 🇨🇴 – the queen of arabica

Colombian coffee is considered one of the best in the world. It has a rich aroma with a hint of acidity. Coffee is so important to Colombia that it has become part of their national identity.


Ethiopia 🇪🇹 – the birthplace of coffee

Legend has it that coffee was discovered in Ethiopia when a shepherd noticed his goats became energetic after eating coffee berries. Today, Ethiopian coffee is famous for its fruity and floral flavors, and traditional coffee ceremonies can last for hours.



United States 🇺🇸 – coffee to go

Americans popularized the idea of “coffee to go.” They traditionally enjoy filter coffee in large mugs, while global giants like Starbucks introduced drinks such as Mocha, Frappuccino, and Pumpkin Spice Latte.



Australia and New Zealand 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 – the Flat White phenomenon

Though not producers of coffee, Australia and New Zealand gave the world the Flat White – a drink similar to cappuccino but with a thinner layer of milk foam and a stronger espresso flavor. Today, it’s a favorite in modern coffee shops around the world.
